Vav Tezhip Turkish Bow by OKÇUBABA | Hand-Gilded Puta Bow

The Vav Tezhip is OKÇUBABA’s special series tezhip Turkish bow, built on the same laminated Vav profile as their target range and then finished by hand with tezhip, the Ottoman art of illumination. The navy and gold work is applied to each bow individually, so no two come out identical.

Underneath the decoration this is a working puta bow. The limbs are maple and fibreglass in a composite lamination, measuring 118cm with a 114.5cm Fast Flight string and a brace height between 18.5cm and 19.5cm. Mass weight is 270g, light enough to stay comfortable at full draw through a long target session, and maximum draw is 76cm, or 30 inches.

Puta is the Ottoman target discipline, shot at a raised mark with a thumb release, and this bow is cut for it. Poundage runs from 25-30# through to 45-50#, with heavier weights available as a custom order, so it suits a target archer still building draw strength as readily as one already shooting competitively. Each bow is handmade and ships in a fitted fabric case. A brass or alloy thumb ring and a set of matched Turkish arrows will round out the setup.
