Turkish archers have always trained on a light bow before touching a heavy one. That bow was the kepade, and the Elif is OKÇUBABA’s version of it: a Turkish beginner bow light enough to shoot repeatedly while you sort out your stance, grip, draw and release.
Rather than laminating wood, OKÇUBABA mould the Elif from polycarbonate using a polymer resin process. The practical upshot is a bow that holds its shape in the wet, survives being handed around a beginners’ course, and costs a fraction of a laminated bow. It runs 116cm with a 103cm Dacron string, an 18.5cm brace height and a mass weight of 270g.
Draw weight is 18-22# measured at 76cm, or 30 inches, which is the important detail: because it keeps a full traditional draw length, you learn the same geometry you will use on a laminated bow later, just at a weight that will not wreck your form or your shoulders. It comes with the Dacron string and a fabric case. Add a thumb ring and some practice arrows and you have a complete first setup.
